The Yaquina Bay Yacht Club will teach sailing classes for Adults in May and September. New for this year, there will be both Beginning Small Boat Sailing and Beginning Keel Boat Sailing for adults.  Youth sailing courses will be held during June, July, and August.  We also offer Beginning Kayaking and Private Kayaking Instruction.

We will have classroom presentations on sailing, then practice sailing on the water, as weather permits.  Adult classroom learning will take place at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Clubhouse located on 750 SE Bay Blvd, in Newport.  Sailing instructors are Certified by U.S. Sailing. Youth sailing classes will be held in Waldport, Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, and Port of Toledo.

Each student will learn how to identify and use the basic parts of a sailboat, maneuver the sailboat, techniques, and use of sailing information including: tides, weather, navigation, & other safety considerations essential to an enjoyable sailing experience for each course level. Each student will have their own sailing text book. Any interested students will also have the opportunity to sail in races.
