Yaquina Bay Yacht Club (YBYC) is Newport's oldest yacht
club. YBYC was established in October of 1947, at the request of the
Newport Chamber of Commerce. The Club's main focus then - and still today
- is the promotion of recreational boating in the Newport area.
In November of 2004 we dedicated our Clubhouse, built by volunteers and serving as a meeting place for our expanding membership. The Clubhouse is located on the Bayfront, and has a beautiful view of the waterfront and the Yaquina Bay Bridge. The Clubhouse is available to rent for your meetings and special events. We are dedicated to fun, education, safety and good sportsmanship in boating. We offer many social activities for the enjoyment of our members. Please consider joining.
To see YBYC in action, check out this video on YouTube (5:20) by Kevin Raichl. This was shot during the Wednesday night races on August 24 and September 1 of 2010, and gives an up-close view of the racing, along with some appearances by a few of our members, against the backdrop of our beautiful Yaquina Bay.
