Adult Beginning Sailing

You can learn to sail! Thanks to the Oregon Boating Foundation (OBF), in just 3 weeks you can develop the skills to successfully rig and sail a small boat. Each student will learn how to identify and use the basic parts of a sailboat, maneuver the sailboat, techniques, and use of sailing information including: tides, weather, navigation, & other safety considerations essential to an enjoyable sailing experience for each course level. Each sailing student will have their own sailing text book. Any interested students will also have the opportunity to sail in races with YBYC members.

Courses begin with classroom presentations on sailing, then practice sailing on the water, as weather permits. Adult classroom learning will take place at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Clubhouse located on 750 SE Bay Blvd, in Newport. Sailing instructors are Certified by U.S. Sailing.
