Welcome to Yaquina Bay Yacht Club

Yaquina Bay Yacht Club (YBYC) is Newport's oldest yacht club. YBYC was established in October of 1947, at the request of the Newport Chamber of Commerce. The Club's main focus then - and still today - is the promotion of recreational boating in the Newport area.

In November of 2004 we dedicated our Clubhouse, built by volunteers and serving as a meeting place for our expanding membership. The Clubhouse is located on the Bayfront, and has a beautiful view of the waterfront and the Yaquina Bay Bridge. The Clubhouse is available to rent for your meetings and special events. We are dedicated to fun, education, safety and good sportsmanship in boating. We offer many social activities for the enjoyment of our members. Please consider joining.

2013 Bridge to Bridge

This race is one of the most exciting sailboat races in the Pacific Northwest! Sail south through 100 miles of sunshine, blue skies and the most beautiful coastline on the West Coast. From the mouth of the Columbia to the mouth of the Yaquina in Newport, Oregon. The race is handicapped at just under 100 miles and is usually a starlit overnight race. The elapsed time record is held by “Grins” at 10 hours and 45 minutes! This Northwest version of the Ensenada Race is a PIYA Category 1 offshore race. Plan a stay in Newport and explore our fabulous central Oregon coast, or get together with your fellow competitors and race back to Astoria.

2013 Youth Sailing Program

Youngsters participating in the youth program must be current members of the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club either as part of a family membership or have their own youth membership. Membership applications will be available at the organizational meeting. This year the program will be divided into three groups; varsity, junior varsity, and juniors. Varsity is only for serious sailors, JV is for serious-but-unable-to-qualify-for varsity sailors, and Juniors are everyone else ages six through 18.
